I wish people wouldn’t just see me as the Asian girl who beats everyone up, or the Asian girl with no emotion. People see Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock in a romantic comedy, but not me. You add race to it, and it became, ‘Well she’s too Asian’, or ‘She’s too American’. I kind of got pushed out of both categories. It’s a very strange place to be. You’re not Asian enough and then you’re not American enough.

I had the biggest girlcrush on her when I was little. She is actually the greatest. Once again I am reminded that I really really need to start watching Elementary.

Last night I got this text from my mom: “Btw, Augustus died last night. :-( Read most of it this weekend. Final few chapters tonight!”

My first thought, before I had gotten beyond the first sentence, was Oh god….Who do we know who is named Augustus?! Aaaand then I realized that she was talking about The Fault in Our Stars.

I wasn’t sure whether to be happy that she was finally reading it, or sad that I put another person through the intense emotional trauma that is this book. Because let’s be real, the fictional death of Augustus is devastating.
